Conformity

Chanced upon a series while channel sufing on the telly which is now becoming a rare moment.. no longer a couch potato? Haha

Can't quite remember the exact title of the series but its pretty much about the minds of criminals and how their minds work or rather how scientists and psychologists deem so through the many methods of testing with modern technology, interviews with the convicts and with the help of test subjects.

The intriguing thing though would be the power of conformity which exists subtly in our every day lifes. A seemingly simple word that can change even the quietest, innocent bookworm into a criminal of somesort or in the case of the show, murderers.

Conformity in its way, whether good or bad, influences people through ways such as peer pressure being the devil. Conformity "forces" one into agreeing with the majority for fear of being ostracized.. and the strong desire of fitting in that it changes mindsets subtly or even through unconscious processes. One of such situation being when a situation is ambiguous and people are uncertain about what to do they are more likely to depend on others for the answer and they come to believe that these "others" are in fact providing the right answers... I suppose this can be applied in the case of the terrorists inwhich most are pretty delusional in my opinion no longer being able to judge for themselves and no longer being able to tell right from wrong.

That aside, am contemplating doing a degree in international tourism and hotel management instead, talk about being fickle. Then again, that would open up a vast field especially with the up coming IRs and whatnots.. that would be another consideration in my fickle minded list. Theatre though facinating is clearly not cut out for me and mass comms though the dip's done there's no harm in venturing out in another field now is there esp since I can use that as a stepping stone to this other deg no wastage of time here but perhaps alittle of of maturity kicking in knowing the bigger prospects coming from the latter.
